What to Expect During your First Visit
Prior to your first visit, you can use our website to get more information about your concerns, find initial forms for new patients, contact us for an appointment, and learn more about our philosophy and dedication to you and your family.
Medical History and Physical Exam
At your first visit, the doctor will take a detailed history of your complaint and current health status. This usually includes a comprehensive review of your complaint, other symptoms or health problems, past accidents, injuries, surgeries, and illnesses that may have an impact on your present condition.
Following your initial conversation with the doctor, she will perform a physical examination, including a postural assessment, appropriate orthopedic (bone) and neurological (nerve) tests, and specific joint and muscle evaluations.
Diagnosis, Establishing a Treatment Plan and Initial Treatment
Your doctor will use all of this information to make a diagnosis, and will then discuss the diagnosis and available treatment options with you. We encourage you to ask any questions at this time and will make sure you feel comfortable with your decisions.
A well-informed patient is one of our main goals, and we want you to be active and engaged in your health care.
Once you give informed consent, you will have your chiropractic adjustment specific to your personal needs and your diagnosis. Adjustments are a hands-on, manual techniques that are designed specifically to improve spine and joint function. Adjustments delivered by chiropractors have been found to be extremely safe, gentle and usually painless. Your doctor may also use other chiropractic techniques, therapies, or exercises depending on your particular case.
Before leaving the office you may be given suggestions for home care so that you can play an active role in helping to restore your health, and follow-up visits can be discussed and scheduled.
